The Wabash golf team stands in fourth place after the first day of the 2010 DePauw Small College Golf Classic.
Senior Jordan Koch turned in the top performance for the Little Giants, shooting a seven-over 78 at Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton, Indiana for the first 18 holes. Teammate Charlie Kelly finished the first round with a 79, while Luke Moton fired an 80 and Jake German shot an 83 to give Wabash one of its most consistent rounds of the season.
Freshman Seth Hensley scored a 79 while playing for the Wabash "B" team at the tournament. Sophomore Michael Piggins added an 82 as a member of the second Little Giant team.
Wittenberg leads the team scoring with a total of 299 strokes after one round of action. DePauw is second (203), followed by Indiana Tech (309) and Wabash (320). Denison (323), Franklin (235), Anderson (326), Rose-Hulman (332), and Manchester (377) complete the team scoring.
The final round of the tournament will take place Sunday morning.
