Freshmen Adam Barnes and Charles Williams each produced season-best times, while sophomore diver Jake Schild scored two first-place finishes in the Little Giants' 152-89 loss at the University of Indianapolis swimming and diving dual meet Saturday afternoon.
Schild (left) won the one-meter competition with a total 213.95 points. His score of 186.30 was the top performance on the three-meter board.
Williams posted a season-best in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:01.40 to finish in third place in the event. Barnes was right behind with a person-best time of 2:06.98. Barnes added another personal-best time in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing in 2:09.29 to take fourth place. Williams was also third in the 50 free with a time of 22.76. David Birrer was fourth in the event, finishing in 23.13.
Paul Buescher won the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in 2.21.11. Chad Woods, Logan Rice, and Logan Falley finished 1-2-3 in the 500 freestyle. Woods touched the wall in 5:05.44. Rice's time was 5:08.38, while Falley finished in 5:21.59. Woods added a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle by posting a time of 1:49.91.
Adam Current, Eric Vaughn, and Birrer placed 1-2-3 in the 100 butterfly. Current finished with a time of 52.07, Vaughn was next at 53.37, with Birrer just behind at 53.64.
Evan Rhinesmith, Alex Beck, Birrer, and Wiliams combined to take second place in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:20.51. Beck added a second place finish in the 100 freestyle, touching the wall in 50.11. Rhinesmith added third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a mark of 1:00.61. Buescher was fourth at 1:04.44.
Wabash will compete at home for the final time this season on Saturday, January 29 in a dual meet versus Illinois Wesleyan. The meet begins at 1 p.m.
