Classics Professor Hartnett '96 Shares Tips for Fatherhood

Classics Professor Jeremy Hartnett '96 offered Wabash men a glimpse into the realities of fatherhood during Thursday's Chapel Talk.

The recently-tenured professor began by noting some of his favorite Chapel Talks are those about experiences "outside these hallowed halls."

His talk mixed advice, humor, and even a few warnings. "Being a father means living scared," Hartnett said. "You're always scared something will happen to a loved one."

He offered seven points to fatherhood mixing a little philosophy, classics, and personal experience to tell his stories. Hartnett shared the responsitility of creating the world for a small human being and the infuriation of having someone much like you growing up under the same roof.

"You get incensed when your kid does the things you wish you could change in yourself," he said.
