Soccer Team Drops Homecoming Match To Oberlin

The Wabash soccer team cut the lead to one, but could not catch the Oberlin Yeomen on Saturday (9/30), losing a 3-1 decision in the Homecoming match at Mud Hollow Field.

Oberlin put the first ball in the net 16 minutes into the match to take a 1-0 lead. Fifteen minutes later it was 2-0 on a header by Oberlin, a lead that the Yeomen took into the halftime break.

Wabash came back to cut the lead to one as Ben Robinson (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) scored his second goal of the week for Wabash. Robinson took a pass from Brandon Hall (Boise, ID/Capital) to beat the Yeomen goalie. But Oberlin would recapture the two-goal lead off of a penalty kick in the final six minutes of play.

The Little Giants move to 2-7, 0-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Wabash will travel to Upland, Indiana on Wednesday to face Taylor University. The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
