Eleven to be Inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame

Crawfordsville, IN - Rick Fobes, president of the National Association of Wabash Men, has announced that 11 former Little Giant athletes will be inducted in the Wabash College Athletics Hall of Fame.

The 2002 induction ceremony will take place on the evening of Friday, November 15 at the Allen Athletics and Recreation Center on the Wabash campus.

The NAWM Board of Directors voted to approve the slate of inductees recommended by the Hall of Fame Committee of the Board.

Among the inductees are three two-time all-American distance runners; three two-sport athletes; a Little State champion discus and shot put champion; one of the most prolific soccer scorers in Wabash history; and the only football player in Wabash history to rush for more than 2,000 yards, catch more than 100 passes, and accumulate more than 2,000 receiving yards.

The 2002 Wabash Athletics Hall of Fame class includes:

Thomas C. "Tim" Werbe ’65, basketball

Steve W. Wagner ’75, wrestling

John D. Kay ’78, swimming

George H. Efstathiadis ’80, soccer

Timothy W. Oliver ’91, football and track

Christopher J. Ervin ’91, wrestling and football

Jeremy R. Wright ’96, cross country and track

Roger H. Busch ’96, cross country and track

Scott B. Gall ’96, cross country and track

Established in 1982, the Wabash Athletics Hall of Fame honors the outstanding contributors to Wabash College athletics. The Hall of Fame Committee of the NAWM Board of Directors slates nominations for a ballot, which is voted on by the entire NAWM Board.
