Three Indiana natives have been awarded Lilly Scholarships to attend Wabash College. The three members of the Class of 2015 will receive full tuition and room/board support during their four years at Wabash.
The four-year scholarship is valued more than $170,000. Approximately 30 students visited campus April 15-16 for the traditional Lilly Weekend.
Kristofer D. Nickle is a senior attending Rockville High School. He was a 2010 Hoosier Boy’s State Delegate and member of the National Honor Society. Nickle was a four-year varsity football player, earning all-conference honors and academic all-state awards. He was also a four-year track captain and a regional qualifier in the high jump. Nickle is interested in a career in engineering.
Lucas S. Zromkoski is a senior from Valparaiso who intends on majoring in English with an eye toward creative writing. He has been a three-year member of the Valparaiso High School Drama Club, Men’s Chorus, Concert Chorus, and Show Choir. He is a member of the National Honor Society. His older brother Andrew is a Wabash senior.
Edward Pingel, South Bend, is a senior at Trinity School at Greenlawn. He was a 2010 Boy’s State Delegate, Eagle Scout, Chamber Choir Student Leader, and four-year varsity basketball participant and two-year MVP. He has participated in mission trips to re-build damaged neighborhoods, including a trip to Allendale, LA.
To be eligible for a Lilly award, applicants must meet the minimum standards of:
- a GPA of 3.5 (4.0 scale)
- Rank in the top 20 percent of their senior class
- an SAT score of at least 1720 (reading, math, writing), or an ACT composite of at least 25
Besides academic achievement, the College seeks young men with individual accomplishments, abilities, extracurricular activities, and a demonstrated level of leadership.
