James "Jay" P. Williams ’66

Entrepreneur and student of human capital, Jay co-founded WNDY, the Wabash radio station, managed WVBF (FM), Boston, based his programming consulting company on personality research, and then co-owned and operated a New England radio group for 20 years. In l987, Jay also co-founded DMR Interactive, a marketing company that analyzes opinion research, lifestyle trends, and social media to track and motivate consumer response.    

Committed to private land preservation for public access, Jay served as a trustee of the Lakes Region Conservation Trust. As vice-chair of Castle in the Clouds, he encouraged board members to employ their individual talents to reverse a perilous decline at this historic NH estate.     

Jay is a featured contributor to each edition of Michael C. Keith’s, The Radio Station, the standard text on the subject; his entrepreneurial experiences and recent student contacts have solidified his belief in the importance of a liberal arts education in the US.  

A Winston Churchill and Sherlock Holmes devotee, Jay also blogs about a cruise ship terminal proposed for downtown Charleston, SC.  

As a liberal arts advocate, Jay is active in Wabash recruitment and a member of the 1832 Society. He and his wife, Jennifer, live near Boston, MA and in Charleston, SC.
