Malcolm X Institute Dedication to Take Place on November 2

CRAWFORDSVILLE, IN—Wabash College cordially invites you to join us Friday, November 1, in the new Malcolm X Institute (located off Crawford St.) for an open house from 5-7 p.m. Tours will be given all evening and an art exhibit by alumnus Nathaniel Quinn will be on display. Quinn will be on hand to comment on the individual pieces which will be on display for the entire weekend.

On Saturday morning, November 2 at 9 a.m., an alumni panel will present “Graduate School: How to Get There and Be Successful.” Currently and prospective students will have an opportunity to learn from alumni with graduate degrees their experience at Wabash College and how it prepared them for graduate school. The session will take place in the new Malcolm X Institute and will continue until 10 a.m.

We also invite you to attend the formal dedication of the building which will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 2. Winston Shepherd, MXI chairman, and Wabash College President Andy Ford will give a few remarks, and National Association of Wabash Men President Rick Fobes ’72 will present MXI Director Horace Turner with Honorary Alumnus honors.

The weekend will conclude with a reception held in the Malcolm X Institute following the football game. The African drumming group, Wamidan, will lead the community to the reception, where tours will be given all evening.

The Malcolm X Institute was designed by the architectural firm of Blackburn Associates with Alpha Blackburn as its principal.
