A critically acclaimed film, television and stage actor will chat with Wabash theater students and the community Friday afternoon. But Richard Thomas is best known by many as “John Boy Walton” from the popular 1970s CBS television show.
Thomas will meet with theater students 1:30-2:30 Friday in Ball Theater to answer questions about his career. The public is invited with a public reception to follow.
Thomas came to fame via the 1970s television series The Waltons (1971-1977). But he first performed on television at eight years old in Ibsen’s A Doll’s House along with Christopher Plummer, Julie Harris, and Hume Cronin. He took several soap opera roles and appeared in Paul Newman’s 1969 auto racing film Winning.
The 61-year-old actor has appeared in numerous Broadway productions, film, and television. He has won an Emmy and two Golden Glove Awards in his career.
Thomas currently has a role in the FX Network program The Americans. He plays an FBI counterintelligence operative.
