To kick off the 2008 Multicultural Festival, the Asian Student Society sponsored a Lion Dance on the Chapel steps and mall.
Students, faculty, and staff gathered after the Chapel talk to get a closer look at the ornate lion.
As the drum cadence slowed, the lion drifted to sleep.
Taken in by the lion, the daughter of Theater Professor James Phillips exclaimed afterwards, "I thought he was going to eat us!"
The dancers and drummer from St. Louis took a few moments after the dance to speak with audience members and reassure Phillips' daughter the lion was tame.
