2010 Awards Chapel Album One
Professor of Classics Joe Day strides down the Chapel aisle to accept the 2010 McLain-McTurnan-Arnold Excellence in Teaching Award at last night's Awards Chapel ceremony.
"Now in his 27th year of service to the College," said Dean of the College Gary Phillips, "Joe is the epitome of the Wabash teacher/scholar whose career is itself an epigram of the way one lives and loves the liberal arts."
Associate Professor of Music Peter Hulen was named this year's McLain-McTurnan-Arnold Research Scholar.
Jonathan O'Donnell and Mitch Brown won this year's Phi Beta Kappa Prize.
The Phi Beta Kappa Prize was established to encourage original work of high creative and scholarly merit, as distinct from proficiency in normal course work. It is a cash prize given by the Wabash chapter of Phi Beta Kappa to that undergraduate who is judged to have produced the most original and meritorious piece of work, whether artistic and analytical.
Michael Nossett accepts the Dean Stephens Award from Dean of the College Gary Phillips.
The Dean Stephens Award is given to a member of the junior class who best reflects the broad intellectual and personal interests, the high moral courage, and the humane concerns of Dean Stephens, a member of the Wabash coaching staff who was killed in an airplane crash in 1958.
Aaron Bonar is one of seven Mackintosh Fellows honored at Thursday night's Awards Chapel. The Mackintosh Memorial Fund was established by the late James Putnam Goodrich in memory of the sixth president of the College. The income from the endowment provides scholarships for six graduating seniors who will be going on the graduate or professional schools.
