2011 Wamidan Spring Concert Album 1

The 11th Annual Wamidan Spring Concert brought the College's world music ensemble together with the Wamidan Children's Ensemble and guest artists for an evening of songs ranging from Acholi children's songs to Argentinian ballads to folk songs of the Baganda people.  In the photo above, Marshall Horton sings "We are the People of This World" with his mom, Wamidan Children's Ensemble Co-Director Naomi Horton, along with the rest of the Children's Ensemble. The song was written by Children's Ensemble Director Stella Sabina.

Senior Bryan Burzon plays apila on "Seremba," a traditional folk song of the Alur people of northwestern Uganda.

Brian McCafferty drums on Baaki-Larak, a piece which combines two different East African drumming styles. McCafferty was also honored for his many contributions to the group over its 11 years.

 Senior Bryan Burzon smiles as he is honored for his four years with the ensemble. A multi-instrumentalist, Bryan also plays with classical music ensembles on campus.

 Brian McCafferty, whose contributions range from his playing and instructing most of the instruments the ensemble plays to concert set-up, was honored for his years of service to the group.

Will Drews added his saxophone to the Latin American music quartet that played with Wamidan on Wednesday. Drews is also a member of the College's brass ensemble and jazz band.
