Great Guest Speakers
Wabash produces leaders at the highest levels of sport, including Mark Miles (president and chief executive officer of Penske Entertainment Corp.; pictured left), Chris Denari (television voice of the Indiana Pacers), Steve Campbell (vice president of communications for the Indianapolis Colts), Dr. Chris Carr (director of performance psychology and team behavioral health clinician for the Green Bay Packers), and Ryan Vaughn (recent past-president of the Indiana Sports Corp). Other noteworthy alumni and camp speakers include Wes Zirkle, motorsports attorney, and Joe Johnson, owner of Obvious Shirts.
Sports Connections Everywhere
Each day, sessions will use issues and topics in sports as a vehicle to introduce students to liberal arts disciplines like economics, rhetoric, and psychology. Statistics, broadcast production, and journalism/public relations are a few examples of how those areas connect with sport.
Day Trips to Sports Facilities
In partnership with Wabash alumni, the curriculum includes many visiting speakers, as well as day trips to sporting facilities and national headquarters in Indianapolis. “We are excited about this new Wabash initiative,” said Program Director Tyler Wade. “We believe a liberal arts education is a great pathway to success in any career, and the level of success our graduates have achieved in the business of sports is impressive. We can't wait to help young men see all the places a Wabash education can take them.”
