Each semester, the International Center staff invites students who will study off campus the following semester to a Pre-Departure Orientation. In this orientation, we cover several key points to help students prepare, including the following:
LOGISTICS
- Immigration considerations, such as obtaining a passport and visa
- Securing scholarships
- Searching for and purchasing airplane tickets
- Planning for safety
- What to pack
- Banking and communications while off campus
- Planning weekend and holiday travel
ACADEMICS
- Choosing courses with care and intention
- Ensuring pre-approved Wabash credit
SOCIO-CULTURAL
- Coping with culture shock and discrimination
- Being mindful of transferrable skills that you're developing off campus
