On April 2, 2006, most Indiana counties will begin to observe Daylight Savings Time (DST). This change affects Montgomery County and Crawfordsville, and means that Wabash will be on the same time as New York all year. This change has some impact on computer systems, which store the local time zone as part of their system configuration, and there are things each of us needs to do to prepare for this change.
The central issue is that computers at Wabash are set to the "Indiana" time zone (or eastern time without DST). You will need to change the time zone in order for your computer to continue to keep time correctly.
Many calendaring programs, such as Outlook, Entourage, and Palm, will exhibit problems with this change, generally by shifting meeting and appointments by one hour after April 2. Calendar entries must be corrected manually, and we recommend that everyone print their calendars prior to April 2.
More information on this issue, including instructions for changing your computer's time zone, is available on our daylight savings time information page. Feel free also to contact the Help Desk with specific questions or concerns.
